2/10/2009  Banana Deck (lunch)

REVIEWERS RATING **** Excellent

Banana Deck has consistently been one of my favorite lunch spots in Cruz Bay. The Prices are reasonable, the food is always fresh, the portions are large enough to share, and the owners are very friendly and helpful.

This time we ordered one of our favorites, the spicy mahi wrap. which comes with salsa, pineapple, cheddar, tomatoes, and lettuce in a flour tortilla with crispy French fries. This sandwich is always delicious and satisfying. We also ordered the BLT salad with blackened chicken. This HUGE salad had very fresh romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, bacon, and cheddar cheese topped with a juicy delicious blackened chicken breast with a basil-bacon aioli on the side. It was way to big, but really satisfying.

Highly Recommend.

We ate at Banana Deck our first night on St. John. Service and Food were both fabulous. We Split the crab spring roll appetizer, which was delicious as were our shared entrees of crispy chicken and southwestern rib eye. Loved the open-air tree setting.

Reviewers Rating *** Great

Right in town, open air, great atmosphere, and very good service.

Mike had the blackened Swordfish special and I had Chicken Alfredo. Both were excellent. Others in our group enjoyed Steak, Seafood Alfredo, and Key Lime Pie. Salads are tempting on the menu, as well as multiple entree's & appetizers. The only thing that topped dinner was a banana split!! Reasonably priced

Banana Deck 05/16/2008

Reviewers Rating **** Excellent

We have always found the Banana Deck to be consistent; good food, good service, nice atmosphere. This last trip, we were not disappointed.  It's still the same...even with all of the recent changes (especially with restaurants) in STJ.

It's not a "five star" establishment by any means  but, if you want a decent steak, grilled fresh fish, pasta or just an appetizer you are in for a treat.

We particularly enjoyed the spring rolls this year. As well, my Mahi Mahi was done perfectly. Pete had steak twice and was quite pleased on both occasions.

It's a casual place but could be your "fancy" place out if you want it to be. The lighting is very romantice and the steel drum player, when he's there is wonderful.

We give this place a two thumba up.

Fun Under the Sun

The Banana Deck is my favorite restaurant on St. John. Whenever I am hungry I know that i can always find something good to eat there. Whether it is one of Doug's Dinner specials or Kristin's lunch specials (owners and chefs and friends), the B-Deck has something for everyone. Haven't had a chilly dog on a while? Visit the B-Deck. I believe it is the only place on the island that has it on their menu and it is gooooooooodddd.

I think I have tried everything on the menu and that's no lie (i used to work there), and there is not one dish in the menu that I wouldn't recommend; everything is delicious. I especially like the Reuben, Chef Salad, Caribbean chicken, shrimp Alfredo, blackened mahi mahi dinner and the ribeye with the roasted garlic butter on top. I should also mention Kristin's soup du jour, especially the Tahitians shrimp-my favorite.

The Banana Deck also has live music. There is nothing better than watchin the sun set while sipping on one of DJ's delicious frozen drinks (bartender and friend).

Before I go I should let you know that i am no longer on the payroll, everything i have said is true and if you don't believe me and you happen to be on the island of St John, stop by The Banana Deck; you won't regret it.  [06 Aug 2006 20:14:37]
